Get ready to embark on a sonic journey with Tyler ICU’s forthcoming album, a deeply personal and emotional masterpiece that pays homage to the woman who shaped his life – his beloved grandmother. Following the release of the captivating single ‘Lucent,’ Tyler sat down with Apple Music to delve into the inspiration behind his upcoming project, revealing a narrative that will resonate with anyone who has ever experienced the transformative power of love and family.
The album’s title ‘Lucent’ is a tender tribute to his grandmother: “That’s my grandma’s name actually,” which sets the tone for a collection of songs that will take listeners on a poignant exploration of Tyler’s life, love, and legacy. The artwork, a heartwarming depiction of Tyler as a child holding a small radio while his grandmother lovingly holds his hand, symbolises the unbreakable bond they shared and the guiding force she was in his life. ‘She’s the one holding my hand on the artwork. I grew up with my gran, so my upbringing was mostly with her. My parents came later in life, at the age when I was starting to go to school. I think I was 7 when I met my parents. From birth, I knew just my gran,’ said the ‘Mnike’ hitmaker.
